I was once trying to describe what I do for a living when my friend Paul Tarini broke in and said, “You are an internet geologist.” True: I collect data and describe patterns in the online landscape, advising companies and organizations about where and how to build based on those observations. I’m not a futurist, but rather a nowist. I pay close attention to the present and catch trends as they are developing.
Here are examples of the work I do as part of my research and consulting practice, Internet Geologist LLC:
Led a national survey project focused on teens and young adults in 2018 then renewed that research in 2021 with a look at how young people are using social media and digital health tools to cope with COVID-19.
Helped re-imagine care for hospitalized kids with Hope for Henry.
